Melanie is an award-winning Christian Recording artist with ten #1 radio singles. Her latest release, In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen, Amen reached #1 on the Cross Country USA Christian Country chart and was #2 on the Cash Box Christian Country chart. She is an Inspirational Country Music Awards Living Legend and a member of the International Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
Melanie attended a small Methodist church with her grandmother where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. A couple who served as youth leaders and lay evangelist took Melanie under their wing. She began singing at the revivals they held. God began to open doors to minister through her music and hasn’t stopped. She is still singing and, sharing the good news of Christ in any and every way she can Melanie says, “There is nothing like singing about God’s goodness and seeing him touch lives. I can’t imagine what my life would have been without it.”
Her musical style was influence by great female Gospel artist like Dottie Rambo, Vestal Goodman and Betty Jean Robinson as well as country artist Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Dottie West and Patty Lovelace. Melanie describes her music, “It doesn’t exactly fit into a genre. Most call it Country Gospel, some call it Christian Country and others just Gospel. I sing songs I love with a message I love. I trust God through his spirit to use what he has placed in me to minister to those he allows me the privilege to sing to..”
